Assured Paradise
Life on earth is short, and it would be tragic if it ended in eternal separation from God. Jesus warned that the way to heaven is hard and narrow, while the way to destruction is wide and easy. It is important to beware of false prophets who may lead us astray.
Many people believe that following God's laws and doing good works will earn them a place in heaven. However, the Bible tells us that no person can earn their way into heaven through their own efforts. The law only brings knowledge of sin, and all humanity has fallen short of God's glory.
God is a just Judge with a holy wrath against sinners. He will punish sinners regardless of the good deeds they have done or the laws they have kept. Sin prevents our entrance to heaven, so who can help us?
The only perfect substitute who can take the punishment for our sins must be without sin themselves. Jesus is the only perfect One who walked on earth. He performed miracles, taught profound truths, and even fulfilled prophecies. Thousands of people witnessed His life, death, and resurrection.
All true prophets bear witness that believing in Jesus is the only way sinners can receive forgiveness for their sins. Without Jesus as our Savior, we will face Him as our Judge with our sins exposed. Either Jesus dies for our sins on the cross, or we will bear the wrath of God eternally in hell.
To be saved, we must not only believe in the truths about Jesus but also believe in Jesus as our Savior from sin and Lord of our lives. We must repent of our sins and trust in Jesus, who died to pay for our sins and set us free from them.
Those who believe in Jesus, not just knowing about Him but trusting in Him as their Savior and Lord, will be saved from sin and hell. Jesus assures those who believe in Him of eternal life with Him in heaven.
Why This Matters
Understanding the way to eternal life and the assurance of paradise is crucial for every Christian. It shapes our beliefs, actions, and worldview. We must rely on Jesus alone for our salvation and not on our own efforts or good deeds. This truth brings hope and reassurance in our journey of faith.
Think About It
- Have you truly repented of your sins and put your trust in Jesus as your Savior and Lord?
- Do you sometimes find yourself relying on your own efforts to earn salvation rather than relying on Jesus alone?
- How does the assurance of paradise impact your daily life and choices?
