Azusa Street Revival
The Azusa Street Revival, which took place in Los Angeles, California, in April 1906, is considered by many Pentecostal denominations as the catalyst for the worldwide growth of the Charismatic movement. During this revival, the Holy Spirit was believed to be poured out in a "new Pentecost." Participants believed that this was evidence of revival and a new Pentecost.

One person shared, "The audience was carried into ecstasy of amens and hallelujahs. Emotion mounted higher and higher; and the glory of God settled on Azusa Street." Another person described feeling like their body had become porous, with a current of electricity flowing through them. These testimonies reflect the powerful spiritual experiences that took place during the revival.
The Azusa Street Revival continued for approximately seven years, with hundreds of thousands of people attending and missionaries being sent out.
