Bible Confusion
The Bible is a sacred text given to us by God to teach us about Him and His ways. However, confusion can arise when it comes to understanding and interpreting the Bible. It is important to remember that God is not a God of confusion (1 Corinthians 14:33). So, where does this confusion come from?
Forces of Confusion
There are several forces at work that can lead to confusion regarding the Bible. These forces include the world, the flesh, and the devil. The "world" refers to the ungodly world system and its people who do not understand or care about the Word of God. The "flesh" refers to the sinful nature that Christians still possess, which can corrupt their understanding of God's Word. And finally, the "devil" refers to Satan and his demons, who seek to twist and distort the Word of God for their own purposes (2 Corinthians 11:14-15).
These forces can act individually or in unison to confuse people about the Bible. They often take advantage of our own laziness or false teachings. Satan, in particular, is skilled at twisting the Word of God just enough so that it produces disastrous consequences while still sounding like the truth.
Causes of Confusion
Confusion about the Bible can also stem from poor translations or intentionally distorted translations. However, more often than not, confusion arises from a lack of serious study among believers and the influence of false preachers, teachers, and writers (2 Corinthians 11:12-13). These false prophets take even proper translations and twist and distort the Word of God to promote their own agenda or appeal to the thinking of the world.
Rather than relying solely on others to teach us the Word of God, we should study it diligently ourselves and rely on the guidance of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit will open our hearts to understand God's truth concerning various aspects of our faith, such as prayer, worship, Christian love, our battle with Satan, personal conduct, church conduct, and achieving a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
The Gospel Truth
One area where confusion is particularly rampant is in the understanding of the gospel. Scripture clearly teaches that Jesus Christ is the only way, truth, and life (John 14:6; Acts 4:12). However, there are those who claim to be evangelical Christians but believe that heaven can be attained through other ways and religions. This confusion can lead to a false hope of salvation, which is ultimately Satan's goal.
As Christians, it is crucial for us to hold fast to the truth of the gospel. We must be discerning and not be swayed by false teachings. The sheep will hear the voice of the Shepherd and follow only Him (John 10:27). However, those who do not belong to the Shepherd may reject sound doctrine and seek out teachers who will tell them what they want to hear (2 Timothy 4:3).

Understanding the Bible correctly is essential for our spiritual growth and relationship with God. It shapes our worldview, informs our beliefs, and guides our actions.
