The first view sees the body and spirit as united, forming a living soul. Genesis 2:7 supports this perspective by referring to man as a "living soul." Additionally, some have used the trichotomous view to suggest that Christians can be demon-possessed. However, there are no biblical references to support the idea that those indwelt by the Holy Spirit can also be possessed by demons.
