While it is natural for humans to have various motivations in life, such as seeking pleasure or wealth, a Christ-centered life recognizes that true fulfillment and purpose come from worshiping and following Jesus.

The Heart's Desire for Worship

The human heart was created with a natural inclination to worship. If we do not direct our worship towards God, we will inevitably worship something else. This can be seen by examining where we invest our time, money, and emotional energy. Our gods can be identified by the level of passionate commitment they evoke within us. In contrast, a Christ-centered life rests in the finished work of Jesus on the cross and seeks holiness as a means of drawing closer to Him.

The Fear of the Lord

Living a Christ-centered life involves understanding and cultivating the "fear of the Lord." This fear is not about being scared of God but rather about maintaining a continual awareness that our loving heavenly Father is always watching and evaluating everything we think, say, or do. Those who live Christ-centered lives have a tangible awareness of the presence of Jesus and make decisions based on whether they would please Him. They strive to avoid worldly entanglements and traps set by Satan, constantly evaluating their choices based on what Jesus would do.

Struggles and Sanctification

No one except Jesus has lived a perfect life (Hebrews 4:15). Even those who deeply desire a Christ-centered life will stumble, sin, and make fleshly decisions in moments of weakness. However, a Christ-centered person cannot bear to live in disharmony with God and will quickly confess their sins and seek restoration with Him. This process, known as sanctification, is a lifelong journey where God works in us to make us more like Jesus. It requires a conscious commitment to living in harmony with God's will, even though we may fail at times.
